About the Program
10-Week Paid Internships for Undergraduates
-
Sponsored by the Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates (REEU) program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), our program provides integrated research and outreach/extension experiences to undergraduate students to expose them to wood science and forest products and ready them for the next step in their careers.
-
Up to 8 undergraduate students will be selected to be summer interns in the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts at Mississippi State University.
-
Interns will be matched with mentors in the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts in the College of Forest Resources at MSU and participate in various research and outreach/extension activities. Among these will be an individual research project, a field trip to one or more forest products production facilities, and a collaborative project with industry, which may or may not be part of a bigger ongoing project.
-
The internship lasts for 10 weeks from May 28 to August 1, 2025.
-
Each intern will receive complimentary housing in university residence halls, a meal allowance, and a $400 weekly stipend for the duration of the 10-week program.
